So, today, I will try to give a little help to a friend, an actual writer, who has tired to express his, un, Can'tedness towards things in the US today. I live far, on a sort of island of ignorance (it's easy when the predominant language doesn't make a lick of sense). Here is what my pal LarmGar (celebrated Variaty journalist and pulitzer prize winning Can'tist) has to say about things we seem to see, but forget to remember when it comes to action:
Republican't Convention: Can't tell the truth, can't create jobs, can't protect nature, can't help themselves...
For those of you who sat through the nauseating parade of lies, false allegations, and dishonorable shrill of the Republican't convention, please permit to add a little clarity. Clarity, after all, is the enemy of an administration built on lies.
Anyone who equates the war against Al Queda with the invasion of Iraq is sadly misguided or naive. Prior to the first Gulf War, Hussein was the tough guy WE supported to watch our backs against the Islamic extremists.
What happened to capturing Bin Laden?
We liberated Afghanistan? Only people who have been there recently know that is not the case. The Taliban are in full control of the countryside - they just go by a different name. Kabul is in shaky US hands, but the rest of the country is as oppressive as before the invasion. We should have finished the job there. We didn't.
The attacks happened on Bush's watch. Yet he claims to be our protector. McEnroe said it best: "You CAN'T be serious!" Bush is to wartime president as Fredo Corleone is to wartime consigliore.
Our deficit is skyrocketing. Only a fool or incompetent would enact massive tax cuts AT THE SAME TIME we go to war! Who do you think is going to be paying that back? Not Cheney, not Bush. You and me, my fellow middle-class friends. The Chinese, who already are taking our jobs, are getting rich from the interest payments.
Bush created the largest bureaucracy in modern times - and they give us duct tape and a "color code?" Give me a break.
This administration is nothing but double-talk, lies and incompetence. Even Tucker Carlson, a die-hard Republican, recently said Bush has no guts. His attacks of a man who actually SERVED in Vietnam, when he turned tail, is despicable.
Anyone who espouses "Christian values" while cutting support to the poor, mentally ill, homeless and feeble will answer to history and a higher power someday.
This November, we need to send the Republican'ts the same message Dick Cheney so eloquently expressed to his Senate colleague....
I try to stay away from politics in this. Well, I don't know that I've consciously tried, but there seem to be plenty of raving and raging bloggers out there who would like nothing better than bring down the "status quo." (I'm pretty sure they don't mean the band ).
We really should try to help. Me, personally I'm moving back to the states just for the election. I will not be a sideline voter anymore. I'm getting in there, and I'm putting my vote where it counts - for the "Not For Sale Party!" It's time people who are actually normal people took a hand in our "democracy." No more Poly-Ticks! We are being sucked dry, and getting nasty infections as they burrow their carnivorous little skulls deep under our skin!
Even if yer not of the Amerikan persuasion, there are things you can do. Every time you see a komrad afflicted with Amerikanism, just try to understand. So many years of Church, Archie Bunker, and Love and Marriage is damaging, not only to the brain and psyche, but even possibly to the genetic structure as well. They need care, and patient understanding. I mean, how else can they support the poly-ticks that endeavor to poison their children's water, and contaminate the very air they breathe - all the while paying back the guilty corporations with thier time, their money (oops, forgot about the tax break, strike that last one) and the future of their families?
Sorry, gettin preachy. Listen to Larm Gar, he knows better about stringing words together. I bet he doesn't even use a spell-checker.
It's time to let then know we are Not For Sale! Senor Lujan, Jerry Seeger, presidential hopefuls full of hope...
