It sure seems as if the NHL season is over. The players broke down, and offered a system with a "salary cap," but it was not enough for the owners. I got this bit off the CBC website:
Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne calls the lockout "absolutely unacceptable."
"There was distrust (between the two sides) in my day, too, but in the end, we got a deal done," said Dionne.
"What are they fighting for, the top 40 guys who already have the money? I feel sorry for these kids here. What are they playing for, the love of the game?"
Yes, that's what he said, the love of the game, something that has been forgotten in recent days. Well, once again I am glad to be living in Prague. Watching some international play over the weekend (a game between the Czech Republic and Russia) I saw several names I recognized from the NHL. The expected cancellation of the season on Wednesday should bring us many more. I have to say, the world championships are going to be quite something this year. There are going to be some players with something to prove...and many more who do love the game, out on the ice putting on a show. Hopefully Bettman keeps the hell away!
You might have noticed some changes on the site. It's still not quite right. Now, in Explorer, it looks right, but the links don't work. On the other hand, on Firefox the links work, but it doesn't look right (I'm trying to get the side menu to go all the way down the page). Damned if you do, damned if you don't it seems.
So, I'll get the changes made, and don't you worry, I'll be sure and see some hokej games for you.
