That's right, you read that correctly. A magic healing potion has been discovered here in the Czech Republic! The thing is, they have had it here for a long time, but have never thought to market it as such. Let me give you a bit of background first. Two days ago (the day after our triumphant return from conquering the Slovakian Mountains) I was at a meeting for the upcoming film. On the way back, I had a meeting with Jer, it was script writing time. That afternoon i felt a cold starting up, you know, the itchy throat, watery eyes, all that jazz, so when I met up with Jer, I had myself a bit of this Magic Liquid. The next morning, I was still a bit achy and sniffly, but not as much as Marianna. Two days later (today) I feel pretty well (except that I do need a shower) but Marianna is still in bed, nose full, and head aching. Obviously, it was this Healing Potion that is the difference. So just what is it? What made me rebound from my cold in such a hurry? Probably most of you who have read this slog a few time are guessing Gambrinus. While I cannot rule this out, having had some Gambrinus on the night in question, it is not the answer here. The real answer is Slivovice Now, the link there, for most of you, isn't going to help, except for the picture of the label. On the label, they call it "Plum Brandy." I'm not an expert on these things, but from my experience, it's more like Plum Vodka, it has plenty of alcohol to kill off those lil' bacteria and viruses all trying to make you feel miserable. I have even seen one brand, from the southern mountains of Sumava, called Penicillin (yes, there are some enterprising Czechs trying to get the message out to the world!) Also to note on the label is that it is Kosher. No need to worry, my Jewish friends, this is a miracle we can all enjoy, together, in religious harmony. Well, except for the Muslims. Somehow I don't think there will ever be an alcohol free Slivovice. Besides, they don't get colds down there in the Desert, it's hot there! So send me your orders! I think I can get you a special deal on this Czech Miracle, but hurry, get it while supplies last...
